THE BRIEF
I had 5 days to build and test a protype for Citi PUP,
a desktop website acting as an aggregate for other pet adoption agencies (Pet Finder, etc.) - it had to be specifically designed for city dwellers who are searching for the perfect dog.

DAY 1
Understand and map
GOAL
Match the right dog to the right owners in
an urban environment
-
Increase adoption rate
-
Happy pet owners
-
Better forever homes for dogs
RESEARCH
Interviews have shown us that...
-
people find the adoption process long
-
while pictures are a must-have, videos would be better
-
location & proximity to the shelter is key
HOW MIGHT WE?
HMW make the adoption process faster?
HMW provide a user with more thorough
information about the dog?
HMW make a user feel confident/reassured
during the dog choosing process?

DAY 2
Remix, improve and sketch
LIGHTENING DEMOS
I looked at sites for inspiration and information for my Citi Pup sprint.
-
Petfinder: to see how they filter pets
- Zillow: to see how they handle locations and house shopping
-
Match: to see how a user could quickly choose a dog "date"
CRAZY 8 EXERCISE
I sketched out 8 ideas for the most important emotional part of the user’s journey, the pet selection/criteria screen.
HOW MIGHT WE?
HMW make the adoption process faster?
HMW provide a user with more thorough
information about the dog?
HMW make a user feel confident/reassured
during the dog choosing process?
MY REMIX
• Big, more personal, pet photos ala Match
to appeal to the emotion of the user
• Combine the search criteria into one top
screen to allow for more picture space.
• Provide more pet options at the bottom
of the screen
DAY 3
Decide and Storyboard
I storyboarded the steps a user would do to make a playdate/meet and then adopt a dog.

DAY 4
Prototype
HMW make a user feel confident/reassured
during the dog choosing process?
I used Marvel to build a prototype of the 6 steps a user would need to make a playdate/meet a potential dog.
• I used color to direct the user
• big entry fields
• big “date app - like” photos
to promote the dogs.
DAY 5
Testing and Design validation

INTERVIEW & TASK
I remotely interviewed 5 dog lovers/owners. Their task was to choose a dog to make a playdate with and confirm the date.
KEY TAKEAWAYS
• Users found it very easy to navigate
• Users wanted features in the product to feel more
confident about finalizing a date with the dog
